At Kaitiaki Niho, we’re reimagining oral health in Aotearoa by putting whaanau, culture, and community at the heart of everything we do. Based in Murihiku and grounded in kaupapa Maaori, we offer dental services that are accessible, high-quality, and culturally safe — listening to whaanau to improve engagement, connection and long lasting improvement to oral health outcomes.
Our vision is to go beyond the dental chair. We provide:
Mobile and community-based dental care that meets whaanau where they are
Oral health education in kura, kohanga, and community spaces
Waananga and workshops tailored for rangatahi, hapuu maamaa, kaumaatua, and whaanau
Culturally grounded resources that make oral health easy to understand and connect with
Support and mentoring for Maaori entering the dental workforce
We believe that oral health is a whaanau, hapuu, and iwi kaupapa — not just a clinical one. That’s why we work closely with iwi providers, Wharekura, marae, and community groups to create safe spaces for learning, care, and connection.
Whether it’s helping tamariki build lifelong habits, supporting kaumaatua with their dental needs, or creating career pathways for rangatahi, Kaitiaki Niho is here to uplift hauora and champion equity — one smile at a time.
Kaitiaki Niho – More than a service. A movement for our people.
