Environmental Plan

Our key strategic objectives include tribal identity and integrity, including “to grow our tribal estate and manage our natural resources.” Tai Tumu, Tai Pari, Tai Ao is designed to enhance Waikato-Tainui participation in resource and environmental management.

Tai Tumu, Tai Pari, Tai Ao

The Waikato-Tainui Environmental Plan, Tai Tumu, Tai Pari, Tai Ao is developed out of the Whakatupuranga 2050 long-term development approach and seeks to build the capacity of our marae, hapuu, and iwi in the sustainability space.

The overarching purpose of the Plan is to provide a map or pathway that will return the Waikato-Tainui rohe to the modern day equivalent of the environmental state that it was in when Kiingi Taawhiao composed his maimai aroha.

This plan was developed through engaging with WTTKI, Waikato-Tainui, other iwi, government agencies, local authorities, stakeholders and partners. Waikato-Tainui members with experience in the RMA and the environmental space were key to the development of the plan.
