He Kohikohinga Games Hopuhopu

Kei ngaa uri huri noa i too taatou rohe – teenaa raa taatou katoa!

The year 2025 marks 30 years of the signing of the Raupatu, and as we celebrate this milestone, we honour our past, unify in the present, and build for the future. The Tainui Games, originally called ‘He Kohikohinga,’ has brought us together since 1998.

Nau mai whakatau mai raa ki – He Kohikohinga – Tainui Games 2025!

We invite you and your whaanau to join in on the fun – whether it’s playing on the court, making bold moves on the chess table, cheering from the sidelines, or doing some seeking shopping in our expo tent while your whaanau are playing.

To join a sports team, please contact your marae sports coordinator.

Registrations Closed for Hopuhopu on the 28th of January.

    Mahere Koowheori | COVID-19

    Kia ngiha te whatumanawa!

We are so excited to be holding Tainui Games next weekend after a 3 year break and look forward to being able to come together, have fun and partake in sports for our marae.

We must ensure the safety of our whaanau is at the forefront of all mahi we do. So, to help manage the risk of COVID-19 transmission at the Games, we will be implementing the following processes.

Let’s be proactive and protect our whaanau from this ngaangara! Kia amohia ake te ora. It is up to us to keep our whaanau safe.

    Image
    Image

We strongly encourage all whaanau to take a RATs test prior to attending the Games.

    Image

RATs collection sites will be set-up on site at the Games (Hopuhopu) to provide access to voluntary tests.

    Image
COVID-19 testing is required for all whaanau entering the Kaumaatua Tent and King’s Tent, for the safety of our most vulnerable. Wrist Bands will be provided once you have produced a negative COVID-19 test.
    Image
As much as we would love all whaanau to attend, if you are symptomatic or feel unwell, please stay home.

Ngaa Paarongo Hauora me te Haumaru | General Health & Safety Information

Each marae is encouraged to have their own first aid officer. However, should you require urgent support, please head to HQ, located next to the Expo Tent. Any serious injuries that require assistance will be directed to 111.

    Whakamaru
    Security

    • No camping onsite, points to be deducted if whaanau do not comply.
    • Security will be working shifts throughout the weekend 11-12 February. Pairs will be based at each gate and roaming the grounds each day. Security will be operating during the day and night to ensure complete security of the site.
    • Security HQ will be based at the Hopuhopu Guardhouse if whaanau are needing any assistance the team is available to support where they can.
    • If whaanau have any lost and found items (including tamariki) will be taken to Admin block or the Stage, either way the stage will announce these paanui when they come about.
    • Encourage whaanau not to wear their Gang related kaakahu and promote good behaviour.
