In the coming months, tribal members will be notified by their marae to attend marae elections. This is an opportunity for marae to elect who will represent the marae view on Te Whakakitenga o Waikato 2026 – 2029.
Nominations for Te Whakakitenga Officers, Te Arataura, and Te Whakakitenga committee positions will close on 19 July 2026. Accordingly, if marae want to nominate one of their Elected Member/s for any of these positions, marae will need to have completed their elections by this date.
The Triennial Special Meeting of Te Whakakitenga o Waikato Inc. will take place on Saturday, 19 September 2026 in our debating chambers at Hopuhopu. At this Meeting, the newly elected marae representatives will participate in the election of the Officers of Te Whakakitenga, members of Te Arataura, and members of Te Whakakitenga committees.
If your marae needs more guidance than that set out on the website, or has any paatai at all about its elections, please email elections@tainui.co.nz
