Waingaro Marae is located 7 kms south of Waingaro and 25 kms northeast of Whaaingaroa (Raglan), on the northern shores of the Whaaingaroa (Raglan) Harbour. Its primary hapuu are Ngaati Tamainupoo, Ngaati Toa Kootara and Te Huaki.
The whare tupuna is Ngaa Tokotoru. The marae connects ancestrally to Tainui waka, the Whaaingaroa moana, the Oohautira awa and the maunga Pongawhakatihi, Rawhitiroa and Karioi.
