Pukerewa marae is located 15 km west of Te Kauwhata, almost on the coast. The primary hapuu is Ngaati Tahinga of the tribal collective of Waikato. The main whare is named Te Haihauauru. The marae connects to the Tainui waka, the awa Waikato and the maunga Taupiri.
Pukerewa marae is located on a small block of land of its own but entirely surrounded by the Pukerewa A Block. The marae is run by its own committee, and all shareholders of Pukerewa A Block are members of the marae.
