Mangatangi Marae is located near Mangataawhiri, off SHW 2 on Mangatangi Valley Road. The primary hapuu are Ngaati Tamaoho and Ngaati Koheriki of Waiohua and the Waikato confederation.
The wharenui is Marae Kirikiri, the wharekai is Kirihaehae and the piruru (guest shelter) is Tamaoho. Mangatangi connects to both Maungaroa and Taupiri maunga and both the Mangatangi and Waikato awa.
