Mangatangi marae is located near Mangataawhiri, off State Highway 2 on Mangatangi Valley Road. The primary hapuu are Ngaati Tamaoho and Ngaati Koheriki of Waiohua and Waikato confederation.
The wharenui is Marae Kirikiri, the wharekai is Kirihaehae and the guest shelter is Tamaoho. Mangatangi connects to the maunga Maungaroa and Taupiri and the awa Mangatangi and Waikato.
