Mangatangi Marae is located near Mangataawhiri, off SHW 2 on Mangatangi Valley Road. The primary hapuu are Ngaati Tamaoho and Ngaati Koheriki of Waiohua and the Waikato confederation.The wharenui is Tamaoho, the wharekai is Kirihaehae, the kauta is Tumokai and Te Whare Oranga is Piruruhau. Mangatangi connects to both Maungaroa and Taupiri maunga as well as the Mangatangi and Waikato awa.
