Kahotea Marae is located 6 kms north of Ootorohanga, in the Waikato region. Its principal hapuu are Ngaati Apakura and Ngaati Hinetuu. The wharenui is Whatihua and the wharekai is Puna-o-Te-Aroha. Te Paerata comprises of extra sleeping and waananga spaces. Kahotea connects ancestrally to the Tainui waka and the tribal collective of Ngaati Apakura and Ngaati Maniapoto.
