Kahotea marae is located 6 km north of Ootorohanga, in the Waikato region. Its principal hapuu are Ngaati Apakura, Ngaati Hinetuu, Matakore and Ngaati Pare te Kawa.
The wharenui is Whatihua and the wharekai is Puna o Te Aroha. Kahotea connects ancestrally to the Tainui waka and the tribal collective of Ngaati Maniapoto.
