The Waikato-Tainui Tertiary Study Partnership Scholarships are available to tribal members who have met the criteria for the tertiary grant. Funded by partners of Waikato-Tainui.
Opens Monday 5 October 2026, closes 5pm Friday 5 February 2027.

Only one grant application is available per applicant in any financial year period.
Sole discretion to accept, withdraw or defer a grant application that does not meet criteria rests with us. Decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Incomplete applications will be withdrawn after 60 days and a new application form needs to be completed.
FY27 Partnership Scholarships
Waikato-Tainui, Ngaati Wairere & Stevenson | Te Ara Tuupuna Pukemokemoke Scholarship
The Waikato-Tainui, Ngaati Wairere & Stevenson | Te Ara Tuupuna Pukemokemoke Scholarship is available to tribal members who are in their second or third year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies. This scholarship aims to acknowledge and nurture up-and-coming Ngaati Wairere uri as future leaders in their respective fields.
The total scholarship fund amounts to $10,000 and can be awarded to up to two individuals. The number of scholarship awards granted will depend on the number of eligible applicants.
In order to be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a registered Waikato-Tainui tribal member
- Be of Ngaati Wairere descent
- Reside permanently in Aotearoa
- Be enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd year of tertiary studies at any tertiary institution in Aotearoa
- Complete all sections of the application, provide the necessary attachments, and sign the declaration
Waikato-Tainui, Ngaa Muka Development Trust & Enviro NZ Partnership Scholarship
The Waikato-Tainui, Ngaa Muka Development Trust & Enviro NZ Scholarship is open to tribal members studying environmental sciences, engineering, planning or water sciences, or more general interests in waste minimisation at any tertiary institution in Aotearoa. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognise and grow up-and-coming Ngaa Muka uri who show promise as future leaders.
The total scholarship fund amounts to $20,000, which may be awarded to one or more recipients. Preference for this scholarship will be given to tribal members registered to Ngaa Muka Marae (Ookarea, Taniwha-Tangoao, Waikare, Maurea, Horahora) and those at least in their second year of study towards an undergraduate qualification.
This may also include internship or cadetship opportunities at Enviro NZ (including commitment to attending marae-focused projects in your field of study).
In order to be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a registered Waikato-Tainui tribal member
- Be registered to Ngaa Muka Marae (Ookarea, Taniwha-Tangoao, Waikare, Maurea, Horahora)
- Reside permanently in Aotearoa
- Be enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd year of tertiary studies at any tertiary institution in Aotearoa
- Complete all sections of the application, provide the necessary attachments, and sign the declaration
Waikato-Tainui, Tainui Group Holdings & Pragmatix Partnership Scholarship
The Waikato-Tainui, Tainui Group Holdings & Pragmatix Partnership Scholarship is designed to support educational advancement for Waikato uri and is available to tribal members in their 2nd or 3rd year of undergraduate or postgraduate study. Preference will be given to tribal members studying construction, engineering, property, architecture or related fields. If no students are available within these categories, the scholarship can be awarded to other disciplines at the discretion of Waikato-Tainui.
The total scholarship fund amounts to $20,000. The value and number of scholarships to be awarded will be determined at the completion of the applicant review process.
In order to be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a registered Waikato-Tainui tribal member
- Reside permanently in Aotearoa
- Be enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd year of studies with any tertiary institution in Aotearoa
- Complete all sections of the application, provide the necessary attachments, and sign the declaration
Waikato-Tainui, Tainui Group Holdings & Ravensdown Partnership Scholarship
The Waikato-Tainui, Tainui Group Holdings & Ravensdown Partnership Scholarship is designed to support educational advancement for Waikato uri and is available to tribal members studying agribusiness, agriculture, agri-science, environmental or similar fields.
The total scholarship fund amounts to $20,000. The value and number of scholarships to be awarded will be determined at the completion of the applicant review process.
In order to be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a registered Waikato-Tainui tribal member
- Reside permanently in Aotearoa
- Be enrolled with any tertiary institution in Aotearoa
- Complete all sections of the application, provide the necessary attachments, and sign the declaration
Waikato-Tainui, Tainui Group Holdings & Brookfield | Aka Raupapa Partnership Scholarship
The Waikato-Tainui, Tainui Group Holdings & Brookfield Ruakura, Aka Raupapa Partnership Scholarship is designed to support the educational advancement of Waikato uri pursuing a university degree in Supply Chain Management.
The scholarship will support one successful recipient for up to three years of their degree, depending on their current year of study. The successful recipient may receive up to $10,000 per year, which can contribute towards tuition fees and living expenses.
In addition to financial support, the recipient will have the opportunity to attend the Aka Raupapa National Supply Chain Hui, providing valuable industry exposure, learning and networking opportunities with potential employers. The scholarship also includes the opportunity for a 10-week paid summer employment placement with Tainui Group Holdings or one of its partners, subject to availability.
In order to be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a registered Waikato-Tainui tribal member
- Reside permanently in Aotearoa New Zealand
- Be enrolled in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of university studies in Supply Chain Management at a recognised tertiary institution in Aotearoa New Zealand
- Complete all sections of the application, provide the necessary attachments, and sign the declaration
