Nau mai, haere mai!

Join us for a kai and koorero to learn more about the exciting opportunities available at Mokopuna Ora. Meet members of our team, hear about our vision for mokopuna and whaanau, and explore how you could contribute to this important kaupapa.

Mokopuna Ora is a kaupapa Maaori, strengths-based and whaanau-led model of care and protection. We work to ensure whaanau and hapuu can actively participate in decisions about the care and wellbeing of their mokopuna, while reducing the number of Waikato iwi mokopuna entering and remaining in the care and protection system. Where mokopuna cannot be cared for by their whaanau, hapuu, or iwi, we support their connection to whakapapa, identity, and culture.

Mokopuna Ora is at a watershed moment. As Oranga Tamariki explores the devolution of statutory functions to communities, we are entering a period of discovery, feasibility, and service design to develop our own indigenous care and protection model for Waikato-Tainui mokopuna and whaanau.
