Taiao Grant Application

An initiative designed to support and enhance the role of tribal members as Kaitiaki, guardians of our environment. Our grants, structured under Kia Tupu – To Grow, Kia Hua – To Prosper, and Kia Puaawai – To Sustain, offer financial support to projects that nurture knowledge, foster environmental prosperity, and ensure sustainable guardianship in alignment with the Waikato Awa's vision and the Waikato-Tainui Environmental Plan.

Te Whakakitenga o Waikato Incorporated (“we” or “us” or “Waikato Tainui”)

Terms and Conditions

  1. Applicant is a registered Waikato-Tainui tribal member and residing permanently in New Zealand
  2. Charitable status where an applicant is a trust or organisation
  3. Experience and knowledge in implementing reo, tikanga projects and/or initiatives
  4. Identification provided on file such as birth certificate, driver’s license or passport
  5. Official bank deposit slip (must contain bank logo, account name and number)
  6. Fully completed application form

Deliverables

  1. Endorsement from Marae, mana whenua, or rangatira with expertise in the alignment of your project.
  2. Alignment to the Tikanga Ora Reo Ora (TORO) Strategy
  3. Full details of the project including expected outcomes, dates, venues, proposed benefits and budget
  4. Evidence of success for previously awarded Tikanga Ora Reo Ora (TORO) grants

Only one grant application is available per individual in any calendar year period.

Failure to provide the above information may result in your application being declined. Sole discretion to accept, withdraw or decline a grant application that does not meet criteria rests with us. Decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
