Waikato-Tainui supports tribal members with a range of employment and training opportunities.
Waikato-Tainui is offering a Summer Internship Programme. Based in Hopuhopu, the programme is designed to advance research that will be useful in the ongoing development of tribal, cultural, environmental, social and economic initiatives.
Applications are sought from students who are currently studying in one of the following areas:
- Environmental Studies
- Science (with a focus on freshwater and/or tuna)
- Social Sciences
Ideal applicants will be Waikato-Tainui, Maaori or indigenous students who wish to develop qualitative and/or quantitative research skills, and are currently enrolled in upper undergraduate level, graduate or postgraduate study. Please note: these internships are not available to those enrolled in PhD study.
Up to 10 positions are available from early December 2015 through to late February 2016. Successful applicants will work under the supervision of staff from the Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development and will contribute to existing work programmes across the tribe.
