Indigenous Data Authority (IDA) is an Indigenous-led data governance and certification body established to protect Maaori and Indigenous data, uphold data sovereignty, and ensure data is used ethically, lawfully, and in alignment with tikanga and community values.
IDA works with iwi, trusts, organisations, and technology providers to assess, certify, and support culturally safe data practices across digital systems, AI, biometrics, research, and information management. Through practical governance frameworks, assurance processes, and advisory support, IDA helps organisations move beyond compliance to build trust, accountability, and long-term data stewardship that serves people, whaanau, and future generations.
