We are holding a Taonga Tuku Iho Conservation, Preservation & Whaanau Collections Workshop in partnership with the National Services Te Paerangi (Alexander Turnbull Library) and you are invited to attend.

Conservator of Textiles, Rangi Te Kanawa and Alexander Turnbull Library Conservator Vicki Anne Heikell, in assistance with Hinureina Mangan (Former Conservator - Ruuruhi – Kaawhia Moana) will be hosting a workshop as follows:

Date:  Friday 17th – Sunday 19th November 2023
Venue:  Maketuu Marae, Kaawhia
Arrival/Whakatau:  5.30 pm

Outcomes at completion of workshop:
Whaanau/participants will be taught how to:

  1. Preserve family taonga (whalebone, pounamu, wood, etc),
  2. Store taonga properly (whaariki and kete etc) and
  3. Conserve old photos, paintings, dairies, and documents.
  4. Make a box to store your taaonga.

There is a limited number of spaces available and at no cost! Once you have been confirmed to attend the workshop, we encourage you to bring a taonga that needs preserving and/or storage.

Be quick to register your interest and unpack, unhang, and uncover your taonga and bring them to the workshop. Again, if you are interested in attending, please fill in the REGISTRATION FORM below.
