Maurea marae is located in Rangiriri West, north of Huntly. The principal hapuu that affiliate with this marae include Ngaati Hine, Ngaati Mahuta, Ngaati Naho and Ngaati Pou.

The wharenui is named Ngaa Tumutumu o Rauwhitu. Maurea marae links to the waka collective of Tainui and the maunga Taupiri.
