Te Reo me oona tikanga
Te reo Maaori me ngaa tikanga o Waikato are an important part of our identity and sense of belonging. We strive to empower our tribal members by providing opportunities to strengthen and develop language and cultural competency and confidence.
Any level and any background should be able to find a course or programme below to support your reo and tikanga journey.
Tikanga Ora, Reo Ora is the Waikato iwi strategy which encourages the use and preservation of te reo Maaori and Waikato Tikanga. Read more about it here

Te Pae Kaakaa
A series of waananga that caters to our more advanced te reo and tikanga practitioners, with a focus on the future upholders of our paepae (Marae endorsed).
Kua whakatuuria a Te Pae Kaakaa ki te whakapakari i oo taatou paepae i runga i oo taatou marae maha maa roto mai i ngaa kaupapa o raro iho nei:
– Karakia/waerea
– Ngaa kura o te karakia Paimaarire
– Ngaa koorero tuku iho o Tainui waka
– Kiingitanga, Kawenata, Te Paki o Matariki
– Mooteatea, waiata tawhito, ngeri, paatere, apakura

– Tikanga marae, whaikoorero, poroporoaki, mihi, karanga, pao, tangihanga

A series of waananga to advance tribal members’ ability to use te reo Maaori and progress their practice of Waikato tikanga (Marae based).
