Care of Whaanau Collections Workshop

This workshop will cover practical steps you can take in the care, handling, storage and display of whaanau collections.
• Whakapapa Books
• Paipera Tapu
• Photo albums
• Framed photographs of tuupuna
The workshop will be a mix of PowerPoint presentation and practical activities. As part of the workshop participants will be making a conservation box or folder for their own taonga.
All resources will be provided for participants.
Who will I meet?
Vicki-Anne Heikell (Te Whaanau-a-Apanui) is Field conservator at the Alexander Turnbull Library Outreach Services Team. Has a B.Applied Science in Conservation of Cultural Materials from the University of Canberra specialising in paper and works with iwi, hapuu and whaanau on the care of their documentary heritage collections. The workshop will help you care for your whaanau paper-based collections, whether they are kept in your home, on the marae, library, museum or archive.
Who is it for?
The workshop is for whaanau members who care for collections in their own home or marae.

There are only x 20 spaces and they are filling fast.
