Whanake Te Toi

Attention Waikato-Tainui musicians, performers, poets and singers! Waikato-Tainui brings to you Whanake Te Toi – a unique talent quest for our iwi members to showcase their passion for Te Reo Maaori through song, poetry, drama and the creative arts.

A special event will be held on Saturday 13 May at Turangawaewae Marae. This event will aim:

• To promote Te Reo Maaori to Waikato Tainui members under the mantel of the Kiingitanga
• To increase awareness and engage Waikato Tainui tribal members to actively participate and gain knowledge of the richness of our Reo and Tikanga
• To showcase the talents of Waikato Tainui tribal members

To enter into this event, you must be a registered Waikato-Tainui tribal member. Registrations close on Friday 24 March with auditions being held on Thursday 6 April. To enter, go to http://bit.ly/WhanakeTeToi

Please note: Upon registration, you will be required to participate in the pre-competition on 6 April, at the Chambers in Hopuhopu. From here the top 15 acts will be selected to perform at Tuurangawaewae Marae on 13 May and MUST also be able to attend a rehearsal on this day.
